Stallion Bear
Bear - Moorbred Exmoor Pony Stallion
'Bear'was born on Exmoor in 2004 and has proved to be an outstanding ambassador for the Exmoor pony breed, notably standing Supreme Champion of his breed, standing Overall Res Supreme Champion of the NPS Mountain & Moorland Silver Medal Championship Final, and twice standing International Horse Agility World Champion. He has also produced Championship winning progeny and his story is told in Wild Stallion Whispering.by Dawn Westcott.
Showing Success
Bear's achievements include standing Overall Supreme Champion at the Exmoor Pony Society Annual Breed Show in 2006 and Overall Supreme In Hand Champion in 2010. He has won over 30 other showing championships, including Champion Exmoor at Royal Bath & West (twice), Devon County and Royal Cornwall (three times). In 2011 he stood Overall Reserve Supreme Champion of the NPS Mountain & Moorland Silver Medal Final, winning the coveted NPS Gold Medal Rosette.
International Horse Agility World Champion
In 2011 and 2012 Dawn and Bear stood International Horse Agility World Champions, after competing in a year long worldwide league competition involving on-the-line, at liberty and wild agility challenges. Bear is also a wonderful riding pony and enjoys being ridden in the Light Rider bitless bridle.
Successful Sire
Bear is working stallion and a successful proven sire with his progeny winning in the show ring. He puts his remarkable stamp on his foals and has a string of beautiful colts a nd fillies to his name, various of whom have now gone on to successfully breed themselves.
In 2015 he ran with some carefully selected semi-feral mares from Farleywater Herd H67 and this produced Farleywater Yogi Bear
who stands at stud for Holtball Herd 11 today.
